Your epidermal cells / skin layers are always growing and dying. The outermost layer of cells is constantly flaking away, naturally without assistance from you or any outside treatment or chemicals. The deeper layers are always making new cells to take their place. Nonetheless, cell production tends to slow down as we age. Hydrating the skin from within is our best defense.

The most common component of many skin whitening cream is hydroquinone, not to the same as ubiquinone, which is coenzyme Q10, a very effective antioxidant. The best skin whitening lotion contains coenzyme Q10, because of its anti-wrinkle effects.

Other skin whitening creams that are very effective contain (and natural) such things as red cactus extract, oils, beeswax and even pure clays.

Discovering the best acne treatment is certainly not any easier now than it used to be, in fact, it is probably more difficult because of the sheer numbers of different so called 'solutions' that are available. It's believed that some skin whitening lotion contains substances such as acids, mercury, and exfoliants that bleach, peel and scrub the outer epidermis . Mercury is dangerous heavy metal and it's use in skincare products is problematic if not irresponsible.  The major cosmetic companies state that it is not harmful since it does not go inside the skin.  Either way, I'm not going to use anything with mercury in it... better safe than sorry.

Bleaches, peels and exfoliants are tend to be a bit caustic,  however, the discoloration that they cause can become a recurring event. It's been determined that repeated inflammation of this type can contribute to the development of rosacea and even DNA degeneration. DNA degeneration is thought to contribute to the development of wrinkles or cancer.

Just like choosing healthy food, go for the natural products - as always stay away from products that have ingredients that you cannot pronounce the names of or have 'new' compounds in them that are largely untested.
